GPPL welcomes 3 authors

Books on the Lake authors wow crowd

More than 350 people welcomed this year's Books on the Lake authors Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4. The Friday panel discussion at the Pierce Middle School auditorium focused on the themes of motherhood and marriage that were prevalent in all of the author's books. Jessica Keyser, Library Director, moderated the panel.

On Saturday, May 4 at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club Desiree Cooper and Lillian Li read from their books and talked about their writing process. Maria Semple talked about her background writing for TV including Beverly Hills 90210, Mad About You and Saturday Night Live and how that experience influenced how she constructs her books.

Wondering what the authors are currently reading? Lillian Li is reading Trust Exercise by Susan Choi and The Group by Mary McCarthy; Desiree Cooper is reading Look How Happy I'm Making You by Polly Rosenwaike and Maria Semple is reading Normal People by Sally Rooney
