Latest news from the Library Director

Library Update

Like you, I’ve been at home working, staying in with my family and keeping my eyes and ears glued to the Governor’s press conferences. She just announced last night that libraries will stay closed through the month of May.

Although our buildings are closed, all of your library staff has been working to provide you with virtual programming and online resources for books, movies, music, comics – you name it. We have created Facebook Book Discussions, virtual story times, online author discussions, virtual magic shows and a Spring Reading Challenge.

If you get the Grosse Pointe News you saw our insert that highlighted some of the more than 40 digital resources we have for you from our website. You can even get an online library card to instantly access most of our digital resources – like hoopla, kanopy, Libby by Overdrive, NoveList and RBDigital – and it’s all free with your library card. You can even learn a language with Mango, get homework help from Brainfuse and learn a new skill with Lynda.com’s professional tutorials from LinkedIn Learning.

We're here for you

I know another month without the library to visit is difficult. My message to you is we’re here for you. As one of my colleagues said today, “There’s no social distancing online.” If you need something call us and leave a message. We’ll call you back. Our number is 313-640-GPPL. Or send us an email at circulation@grossepointelibrary.org.

We miss you

When it is time to come back inside the library, know we are keeping your health and safety at the top of our list. We will reopen in phases and follow all the guidelines and best practices available.

We miss you too. Please stay connected with us and let us know what we can do for you.
