New Library Board Officers & New Trustee

New Officers Elected

The Grosse Pointe Library Board of Trustees elected officers at its July 25 meeting. The officers are: Bob Allen, President; Susan Higman Larsen, Vice President; Sandra Ambrozy, Treasurer and Secretary, Megan Conrad Sczygielski.

Paul Rentenbach is the new member of the board from Grosse Pointe Shores, replacing Prudence Cole. Rentenbach served on the board previously when he lived in Grosse Pointe Park. Rentenbach is a retired partner from the Dykema Gosset law firm. He graduated with a BA in Economics from the University of Michigan and earned his law degree from Harvard Law School.

“I’m looking forward to working with this year’s officers,” said Jessica Keyser, Library Director. “We’re pleased to have Paul serving on the board again too.”

Keyser noted that long-standing board member, George Lapastora, moved from Harper Woods so is no longer eligible to represent them on the library board. “If you live in the area of Harper Woods that’s part of the Grosse Pointe Public School District and are interested in serving on the Grosse Pointe Public Library Board of Trustees, please consider filling out an application on our website,” said Keyser. Applications for the Harper Woods position are due August 3.

The board elects officers for one-year terms at the July meeting. Library trustees serve a four-year term. Each Grosse Pointe municipality and Harper Woods appoint representatives to the Board with one additional at-large member. Board members are responsible for hiring and evaluating the Library Director as well as overseeing the fiscal management and policies of the Library.
